< EDIT! NEW! >

As it seems people ARE interested and there are those working on things still, would you all prefer an extension to the end of the month, or into mid April?

</ EDIT! NEW! >

The second contest of the year was slated to run as a steampunk themed contest for the rogues, with the due date set as March 15th. With no entries in sight, one can only assume that they are either running late, that no one has any interest, or that meerkats have taken over the world. I'm not sure what relevance that last one has, but it sounded good at the time.

IN OTHER WORDS, this is the time for people to speak up if they were in fact working on anything, need the deadline extended, or if we should quietly shuffle this one under the carpet and and hope the smells go away.

Discuss!

Steampunk is definitely beyond my meagre skills.

Afraid I don't know enough about the genre to write in that style...and I've been in a writing slump for quite a while now :\

I'm interested in the contest, especially when I never drawn steampunk before. :) I'm still not sure of how exactly a steampunk costume is like... or what it really is, 'cause the style is new for me. ^^; An extension would be good, maybe to end of the month. I'll see when I get around to draw something for the contest.

I do want to enter some things, but I've been swamped by essays for the last two months (hence the no-Valentine's stuff). I have the whole of next week off, which I'd planned to use as my art/costume/cleaning/advance projects time. As the 15th is Monday however...I think I'd need a little more time to do some research.

I was working on something, but if we choose to keep the contest a deadline extension would be nice. (It's a story, because I apparently can't draw some of the gadgets in my head, and those can take me a bit...)

I do want to try and draw something, but my inspiration has been a bit lacking. I'm still trying, HOWEVER, I am going out of the country on the 15th, and will have no way to post it until I get back, which won't be until after the 23rd.

Despite the fact that I'm a non-participant, I want to contribute as well, but inspiration here's been a little less than brilliant with me too. What I want costume-wise for most of them has been set for quite some time--but it's setting and action within the shot that's killin me idea-wise XD

Perhaps I'll root around the net and post up some steampunk related links to get everybody thinking caps charged, eh?

That's probably a good idea.

Because my problem is I have the idea in mind for the scene I want to draw, but the costumes are eluding me. And it's like ;_;.

So perhaps some links to costume design could help me out. :)

How about these?
Chrononauts: [link]

Madame Modiste's [link] and her lj she's got lots of links to Victorian type stuff

And some Regency Era ref, just in case [link]

OH! And if you surf around Etsy etsy.com there's plenty of antique and steampunk work on there. And if you like Asian-style ball-jointed dolls (BJDs), a good deal of them have distinctly steampunk, clockpunk, western, and oriental-goth outfits.

(PHISH, FEEL FREE TO POST THESE IN THE MAIN JOURNAL. LET'S SEE IF WE CAN GET OUT SOME ~INSPIRATION~)

Oh hey, there's also SteamFashion, which I just found today! [link] They even discuss the different character archetypes and the implementation of goggles (as expected, they do nothing)!

I love steampunk, but I can't seem to have the knack for drawing it. Too bad nobody posted, I was looking forward to seeing our Rogues steampunk style :/

Keep in mind that the idea hasn't been scrapped yet. If enough people chime in, it will run, albeit most likely with an extended deadline.

If you joined the group prior to valentine's day, that may have been why. Multiple announcements were made regarding, but one hadn't come about since then.

However, now that dA has an actual affiliation system for groups, I'm currently trying to empty out our 'custom' box filled with them, into the proper affiliation section of our main page. Once the custom box has been cleared, important journal posts will be linked out through there, including those regarding contests.
